Dr. LaBrosse is excited to introduce an important new technology to her practice at Eye Spy: Quantifeye!
This device directly measures the integrity of your macular pigment.
Macular pigment is in the back of your eye, acting like “internal sunglasses” to protect and enhance your central vision.
- Do you have trouble night driving or problems with glare?
- Do you have light sensitivity?
- Family history of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)?
- Risk factors for developing AMD (fair skin, history of smoking, cardiovascular disease, poor diet, over 50 years old?)

It’s our birthday and we will cry if we want to….tears of joy, that is:-) Come and join us, while we celebrate in our fluffy dresses & watch “Sixteen Candles!” We will have cupcakes & candy, spiked punch, a bunch of frames on sale and birthday discounts!!
We almost forgot to mention the cake topper!? We will have some sweet work from Margie Criner, owner and mastermind behind Red-Belly!
From as far back as Margie can remember, she needed to make things. She recalls spending time in her dad’s wood shop in the basement of their house. At six years old, she made a walkie talkie out of a block of pine, a nail and some paint.
Now, years later, the tools she uses are more sophisticated, but the desire to produce remains the same. Margie’s education in textile design, graphics, and woodworking allows me to fulfill her childhood dream to create. Her work is rooted in color, eco- friendly materials, with a heavy concentration in composition. This must be why we love her one-of-a kind work so much!!
Come and celebrate 16 simply spectacular years of specs at Eye Spy! We will have a photo booth set-up, so don’t forget to wear your puffy dress:-) SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th from 12-5PM. Be there or be square.

We’ve convinced the rest of the block to play a game with us. What is the game you may ask? It’s an EYE SPY rainbow scavenger hunt, of course! Come scoop up a map and go on a hunt during Sundays in September.
Return with your map and photos, get a bunch of super-secret prizes and enter into a drawing for a pair of kids’ Julbo sunglasses!
The scavenger hunt is officially taking place every Sunday during the Lakeview Sunday Play Spot! But, you can pick up an Eye Spy scavenger hunt card from us or any of the retailers on our block and participate whenever you want:-)

Back-to-school brings new classrooms, new clothes, check-ups and of course… NEW GLASSES!!! We’ve got our favorite kids line in-the-house Sunday, September 14th from 12-4pm… Etnia Barcelona!! Etnia Barcelona really nails it with their color and shape options, topping it off with hilarious names of some of our favorite childhood places.
To add the fun of the trunk show, Lakeview Chamber of Commerce is blocking off Lincoln right in front of our store for some playtime! They are putting a play spot in from Roscoe to School, so come run, jump, skip and play! (Oh, well and pick out some new glasses *obviously.*) We will also have a musical guest for the day playing in our Airstream! Little Miss Ann will be jammin’ it up with the kiddos at 3pm!

Join us for some mayhem on Thursday, July 31st from 3-7pm!
Y’all know that August brings our Sunglass sale. Once a year we round up all of our sunglasses, and go over-board on the discounts. We even sneak in a bunch of optical frames:-)
This year we are starting the party a day early, because turn down for what? Thursday will bring a 4 hour sneak peak at the sunglass sale along with a handful of other surprises we’ve got up our sleeves. Trust me, you WANT to know what they are. Perhaps, we will let the cat out of the bag the week of the par-tay! Maybe.

Modern Co-op is having a kicking off event for a new design collection by Chicago-based Brass And Bark…and we are joining in the fun with our frames and sunnies:-)
The next pop-up is…on Friday, July 18th, the Chicago Mosiac School. They are having a Vernissage from 6-9pm! The head of the school is a big fan of Eye Spy and we are a big fan of mosaics:-)
The school is located in a loft building near the Irving Park Brown line stop. It is on the second floor and we will be near the main entrance…hopefully!! The have an incredible showcase of mosaics by artists from around the world on display.

Oh, geeze…we almost forgot to mention that we will have the whole RES/REI and Oliver Goldsmith collections in the house!!!
We know you secretly love #throwbackthursday. It’s ok, we do too! Well, we are bringing back some of our old Thursday activities. Back in the day, we had Eye Spy’s Battle of the Bands! Turns out that this throwback will not be a battle, but rather a killer set by the brother sister duo White Mystery! We are so pumped to share our afternoon with these gingers!
We have never, ever had a RES/REI trunk show!!! We are just a tid bit excited about this one! RES/REI takes classic Italian shapes, then updates the shapes and adds a touch of color and/or interesting modern detail. They are handmade with love in Italy. RES REI means ‘the thing’ in Latin. It means an existing object, with substance and form; but it also means a concept, an idea. RES/REI is the ensemble of things that make life around us, in all given forms.

At Eye Spy we love a good Chicago cause. When we heard that the READ/WRITE LIBRARY CHICAGO got their bike stolen (a.k.a. the Bibliotreka), we knew we had to do something to help! After some brainstorming, we decided to host two trunk shows as a part of our Green Scene events…and a portion of the proceeds from the day will go to help READ/WRITE get a new bike! Mykita and Eyebobs Readers will be joining us for the day. (Ha! Readers for the Library!) READ/WRITE will also have a little crafting session with some up-cycled book parts. Join us April 26th from 11-4pm!
Wondering what in the heck the READ/WRITE LIBRARY CHICAGO is all about? Please allow me to explain… The Read/Write Library is an all-inclusive collection of Chicago-specific media, produced by and for the community. Through their unique indexing of contributors and their open venue, they provide a space for individuals, organizations and ideas to come together, and creative connections to emerge. They also had a sweet bike called “Bibliotreka”, that some not-so-nice person stole this summer! We are joining in the effort to raise some funds to replace their beloved bike.
Wondering what in the heck Mykita is all about? Mykita is a dream come true for those who are looking for a crazy durable light weight frame. They have got it down, with an all steel frame, a pressure hinge and a lovely assortment of shapes Mykita really make it happen. They also have a few plastic frames up their sleeves complete with a pressure hinge as well.
Next on the trunk show ticket is Eyebobs! Tired of those lame drug store readers that break two seconds after you walk out of the store? Eyebobs is just the answer…and the optics and styles are much better too! Each frame comes in about 5 different colors and every reading power! It’s magical…readers that you won’t be embarrassed to wear!!!! Hooray! Come in and try them all one to find one you love. Psssttt… they also have sunglasses!
