CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

Written by on June 15th 2010

What perfect timing! Just a few days ago, we were waxing rhapsodic about Theo and this weekend, Christopher picked up his brand new Theo Eyewitness frames!

How cool are these?!

Christopher found a pair in the store, but our frame was mostly black. He wanted something a little brighter, so we ordered two colors for him to try, he chose the silver and black, and wow-oh-wow, do they look great!

Congratulations, Christopher, you’re our CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

Don’t forget that Sunday is Father’s Day!
Show your dad you care
with a nifty new pair of sunglasses!

"Theo’s out there living it up, doing a little earth shaking somewhere."

Written by on June 11th 2010
I, the Specs Therapist, have had a crush on Theodore Huxtable since I was five. So when I started working at Eye Spy and saw that there was a line named “Theo,” I was immediately lost in love. No matter that the name is pronounced “Tay-Oh,” or that the name represents an anagram of one of the designers, Patrick Hoet’s, last name. The name “Theo” always has and always will represent perfection to me.

So, what’s the deal with this eyewear line called Theo? Why do they make such funky glasses? And where the heck did they get the idea to make such unique frames and designs? Let me tell you:

Theo was founded by two opticians, Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet. They first displayed their designs at the Paris eyewear tradeshow, Silmo, in 1989.
Their designs represented new ideas in eyewear. Rather than being just a necessity, their designs turned glasses into works of art. And beyond that, they became a window for expression for glasses wearers, starting with the more adventurous and moving to a wide range of faces and personalities the world over!
Theo continued with their avant-garde aesthetic in their Eyewitness line. While the main Theo line maintained unique and creative designs, Eyewitness went the extra step. All eyewitness frames have an asymmetrical design and continue to push boundaries in eyewear. In a fashionable and flattering manner, I might add.
Theo continues to pursue their goal of creating new and exciting designs, partnering up with designers Cristoph Broich and Tim Van Steenbergen on sunwear lines. Theo designs keep surprising and delighting. It’s a love affair with no end in sight!

And do you know what?

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

Written by on June 8th 2010

Christine is one of our favorite customers because she has a classic, but adventurous sense of style when it comes to glasses! She just has a face made for frames, no matter what she puts on, it looks like each frame was made just for her (lucky!).

But, she recently decided that she needed a frame that was a little more “tame” for those occasions when hot pink just would not do. Still, she wanted her personality to be able to shine. As Christine shows, it’s possible to be adventurous and fun, while still wearing a frame that showcases clean lines and top-notch design:

YOWZA! Christine looks awesome in her new Theos!

What makes this Theo frame perfect for what Christine wanted is that it’s pretty and light, but it has a secret:

Yup, the top of the frame is electric blue! Just that touch of color not only adds some fun and whimsy to the frame, but it also lightens the look of the frame. So when Christine is wearing this, she can still maintain a classic, yet airy feel.

Great choice Christine! There’s no doubt that you are the CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

Written by on June 2nd 2010

At Eye Spy, we have the best neighbors in the world!

The other day, Joe was bringing by posters for the Pets @ Paulina Pet adoption event. When he came into the store, he asked about new styles. Immediately, we knew he was meant for two lines, Rapp and Oliver Goldsmith. You see, we got to talking with Joe about the spectacle stylings of a one Sir Michael Caine.

Mr. Caine being bad in his OG OGs.

Joe tried on this Oliver Goldsmith sunglass frame and it was meant to be!

We’ve loved this frame since it arrived in the store and we’ve been waiting for the perfect person to take it home. Joe is that person! His shared love of the classic Oliver Goldsmith style won our hearts!

Way to go, Joe, you’re our CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!!!

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK

Written by on May 24th 2010

Mary here has been a customer of Eye Spy for a real. long. time. She’s always finding the coolest, most interesting sunglasses and eyewear. We love her spirit and her energy whenever she’s in the store!

So, last year, when she told us she was moving to North Carolina, we cried. But she promised us she would visit, and she kept her promise!

Before she moved, Mary bought these *fantastic* Francis Klein frames. We mailed them to her in NC and weren’t able to see the final look. So when Mary stopped by the store, we HAD to take her picture because this Francis Klein frame looks Terrific!

Congratulations, Mary, you’re our CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK!

Written by on May 17th 2010

Whoo-Hoo! Our Customer of the Week this week has some great timing! Jill came to Eye Spy during our Anne et Valentin trunk show and fell in love with this purple frame from the Anne et Valentin Factory series.

Anne et Valentin has the coolest inspiration! Their Factory series of frames were inspired by Andy Warhol (hence: Factory). All of the frames are polished and then re-shaped to give the edges and the temples a rough edge. Utilizing the spirit of Warhol’s Factory, this series of frames has an extra spark of personality and feel like a revelation every time they’re worn!

So you can see, Jill made a pretty awesome choice with this frame! How could we not crown her our CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK?!!
