Congrats to Charmaine!

Charmaine works a corporate job and came in looking for something that would jazz up her everyday wardobe. The Optical Oracle was on the job and helped Charmaine select a gorgeous Rapp Gilda frame in a lucious marbled purple color that had arrived in store just a few days earlier.

Rapp is a small eyewear company based in Toronto, Canada. They are known for their modern shapes and unique colors.
Once she saw herself in these beauties, she realized that her old sunglasses weren’t up to snuff! She took a quick look at the wall-o-sunnies and picked up a pair that had been calling her name…

Charmaine’s a smooth operator in her new Sunnies!
Once the cool blue-grey RetroSuperFuture Drew Morosa frames were on her face, she almost wouldn’t take them off! It took some convincing, but we managed to convinced her to give them up for a couple weeks so we could put her updated Rx lenses in them.
Charmaine is sassier than ever and ready to wow her co-workers and friends with her cool-cat style!

Introducing our newest memeber of the Eye Spy Customer of the Week Club…Puneet!
Mykita for everday.
Puneet spends most of his day sitting in front of a computer…I am sure most of us can relate. He decided to take advantage of our Two Pair Discount and pick up a pair of glasses for everyday wear and a second pair with a computer prescription to wear at work. Luckily, Puneet has great taste and choosing two pairs was easy.

With the holiday season creeping up on us, we wanted to remind you to Shop Local. Shop Lincoln! What’s in it for you, you might ask? Well, let me break it down for you! We’ve teamed up with our local loves on North Lincoln Avenue, from 3200 thru 3500 to bring you Shop Local. Shop Lincoln! Shop at any participating shop on Lincoln and they will give you one of our fabulous little punch cards, get 6 or more punches and drop the card off at Eye Spy and be entered to win a gift basket full of goodies from the whole neighborhood! Chris is a man of many talents…photographer, videographer, musician. AND he has great taste – doesn’t he look amazing in his Gentle Monster frames?!?
You may recognize Chris… he is a regular at the shop and is also the man behind our fabulous video lookbook:
He is constantly on the go, shooting videos for bands, taking photos at weddings and working with local business peeps around Chicago. The Gentle Monster’s have coordinating clips he can wear them in the studio and out on the town and always look amazing!

So, you might be thinking that Elspeth is our customer of the week because she bought three pairs of spectacular specs from Eye Spy, but you would be wrong. She is customer of the week because she looks amazing and totally different in all three pairs!!
Sure enough every time Elspeth comes to find new frames, the Specs Wrangler just happens to be here! It’s like magic…or something close to it. They share their love of luscious leather boots and, of course, delectable glasses! After a process of elimination they settled on these three beauties. First up, we’ve got a powder blue Niloca Clockwork frame. The Specs Wrangler loved these so much, she ordered a pair for herself! Second on the dream series, she’s got an Anne et Valentin Modern Love! Lastly, Elspeth patiently waited for Rigards to come in, a brand new line to Eye Spy! Rigards is made from sustainably harvested buffalo horn! What?!
Each frame fits her like a dream. Hilariously, Patsy, the Specs Wrangler, also fits all the same frames!!!! Thanks for being perfectly lovely to work with Elspeth! You are a wonderful customer of the week!

Yep, it’s what you have been waiting for all year…the new 2015 eyewear collections straight from Paris!!!! Hollah!
While the Queen of Specs takes the long voyage to Paris every year, and suffers while doing so (just kidding!), we make it easy on all of our customers by inviting the representatives from a small selection of our lines to Eye Spy on Saturdays on November. We tried to mix it up a bit this year…so we hope you are as excited as we are!!

Winter is coming but Clara is here, so not to worry. I mean, she is no Ygritte, but she’s pretty great. She hails originally from Port Townsend, Washington. She scurried south to attend college at California College of the Arts. Her travels have now brought her to us in Chicago. Clara has captured a pair of Rapp Eyewear frames in green carnivale, and she wears them well….
We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her!
-How many glasses do you own?
1 glass and 1 sun! — soon there will be more!
-What is your favorite thing in the whole world?
I love lots of things… THE COLOR PURPLE!!!– not the book, the actual color purple. **SPARKLES***
The Goldfinch by Donna Tart, sushi, the ocean, ooo ooo and riding my vintage japanese lotus bike. AH, and my CAT… and CRAFTING. I’m an old woman.
-There’s an EARTHQUAKE! and you can only save 3 things from the gaping hole forming under your apartment, what do you scoop up?
My CAT! And as many beads as I can carry! that’s it.
-What catches your eye at Eye Spy?

Daenerys– Mother of Dragons!
- What’s something that people don’t know about you?
UHHHHH lots of things, I LOVE HULA HOOPING! I used to have 10 hula hoops, but now I only have one. Drunk hula hooping is the best.

Drunk Hula Hooping! Doyeeee

This device directly measures the integrity of your macular pigment.
Macular pigment is in the back of your eye, acting like “internal sunglasses” to protect and enhance your central vision.
- Do you have trouble night driving or problems with glare?

Congrats to Laura….again!
Although Laura was a Customer of the Week in February of 2013, we could not pass up snapping a shot of her in her new Thierry Lasry cat-eye sunglasses…and fabulous kitty-cat bag, complete with sticking-up ears!!
The Thierry Lasry sunnies have abalone shell accents on either side. The frame is called Slutty, but we are hoping Laura knows how to control herself;-)
While Laura was trying to decide whether or not these sunglasses would fit into her budget, we made a business proposal to her: create an illustration for us to use with our Rainbow Scavenger Hunt. She accepted….and got the sunnies!

Celebrate with us on Sat., October 11th from 12-5pm!
It’s our birthday and we will cry if we want to….tears of joy, that is:-) Come and join us, while we celebrate in our fluffy dresses & watch “Sixteen Candles!” We will have cupcakes & candy, spiked punch, a bunch of frames on sale and birthday discounts!!
We almost forgot to mention the cake topper!? We will have some sweet work from Margie Criner, owner and mastermind behind Red-Belly!
From as far back as Margie can remember, she needed to make things. She recalls spending time in her dad’s wood shop in the basement of their house. At six years old, she made a walkie talkie out of a block of pine, a nail and some paint.
Now, years later, the tools she uses are more sophisticated, but the desire to produce remains the same. Margie’s education in textile design, graphics, and woodworking allows me to fulfill her childhood dream to create. Her work is rooted in color, eco- friendly materials, with a heavy concentration in composition. This must be why we love her one-of-a kind work so much!!
Come and celebrate 16 simply spectacular years of specs at Eye Spy! We will have a photo booth set-up, so don’t forget to wear your puffy dress:-) SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11th from 12-5PM. Be there or be square.
