THIERRY LASRY sunglasses are based on the concept of « futuristic vintage » fusing vintage inspirations with an updated, modern and avant-gardist touch.
All the acetate frames are entirely hand-made in France with the best craftsmanship techniques and traditional know-how, the sunglasses only use acetate from the reputable Italian manufacturer Mazzucchelli. By working out the volume, the acetate front is made using a process more akin to sculpture than to regular cutting techniques. The acetates typically undergo a process of layering–meaning textures are created by combining sheets of different colors one against the other.
A galaxy of stars are amongst the brand’s most devoted fans, ranging from Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus to Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba etc …

Get Your Boogie On…AGAIN!!!
Join Eye Spy Optical on Thursday, July 21 for Lakeview Live Concerts on the Curb!
Iris the Airstream had a wonderful time at the June concert! She will be on vacaction in Wisconsin this year, but we will still have plenty of eyewear and sunglasses:-)
This fabulous event is being hosted by the Lakeveiw Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Music Exchange and Lagunitas Brewing Company and businesses up and down the block will be gettin’ their groove on to celebrate with sidewalk sales, pop-ups etc!
The bands were great and there were tons of activities for the kiddos – including a GIANT Connect 4 board that you have to see to believe!
And there was beer! Did we mention the beer? Lagunitas was pouring some of their best and most delicious beverages. You definitely won’t want to miss out on that!
AND again….since Iris’s favorite season is summer, we will be giving all of our lovely customers 10% off any sunglasses purchase during the concert!

Who’s Playin’?
When are they Playin’? Thursday July 21st. Things will get started at 5:30pm and will wrap up at 8:30pm.
Where are they Playin’? The band will be set up at the corner of Paulina and Lincoln Ave, but there will be fun stuff going on up and down the street!
Could it possibly be free? YES!!!! The concert is free to any and all who get their butts on down here!
Where are my dancin’ shoes? I don’t know…but you better find them!

We have some new frames to entice and delight you from a wonderful new (to us) designer. Let me introduce you to our newest collection of french eyeglasses, Sabine Be! But first, some background…
The Queen of Specs had been seeing photos of Sabine Be for a over a year….so, when she made her wishlist for the buying show in Paris, Sabine Be was at the top of the list! The Queen likes to carry independent, small, colorful lines that are designed by opticians. In addition, independent optical designers are so nice to work with…and the quality & workmanship is amazing. Our appointment with Sabine Be was secured for the last day of the buying show. Each day that the Queen passed by the Sabine Be booth, she started drooling and the Specs Wrangler had to pull the Queen away!! Finally, the day arrived! And the clouds parted…..
Are you in LOVE yet? Everyone here at Eye Spy Optical have a bit of a crush, especially on this sassy little cat ear number.
Sabine grew up with a love of design, fashion and eyewear – both parents were involved in the optical world. She knew she would grow up to be a designer of some sort. So after years of work as an optician, Sabine started her own line of unique and colorful frames.
You may not know this but opticians make THE BEST eyewear designers. They pay attention to the little things – what will fit well, what will look good, what will feel comfortable in a frame. Sabine Be is comfortable and fun to wear. She uses beautiful colors and pairs them with fun and easy to wear shapes.
They are also beautifully made – Sabine has her frames made by hand at a small, well-known eyewear factory in France. Detail and quality have served as her guides she has been recognized by the eyewear design world for her talents, she was recently nominated for the prestegious Grand Prix Silmo d’Or 2015 in Paris.
We have a great selection of Sabine Be’s women’s and men’s frames as well as some fantastic accessories. Consider yourself warned…you may squeal with delight when you see them.

Our Customer of the Week is a kid who knows a thing or two about sunglasses. Raise your juice boxes for Will!!!!
Will is an energetic little guy who loves to be outside so his parents picked up a pair of Julbo Looping sunglasses for him a couple of years ago. He loved them so much that when he grew out of them, it was time to come back and pick up something new. He has grown so much since his last pair that he ended up going home with a cool blue pair of Julbo Bubbles sunnies and we think he looks amazing!
Julbo makes great sunglasses for babies and kids. They are durable and comfortable and we LOVE the bright colors! They also will protect against UV rays, which is ULTRA important in kids since their eyes are still developing and need some extra protecting.
Will is excited to be just like his dad and tags along to give his opinion on Curt’s picks. He just might be an optician in training!

Everyone at Eye Spy has been talking about our newest line of limited edition sunglasses since the moment they came in. They are a genius collaboration between eyewear designer Fakoshima and fashion designer Ria Keburia.
Fakoshima is designed by Konstantin Shilyaev, a graphic designer turned eyewear designer who finds inspiration in Japanese design, fashion, architecture, cinematography and electronic music. His designs blend playful design with a futuristic ideas. “We believe that humans will be androgenic with incorporated elements associated now with robots, androids and new technologies.”
Ria Keburia is a Georgian avant-garde fashion designer who lives in Paris and is well known for her crazy clothing and exciting fashion shows. She worked with Fakoshima to create a line of eyewear to accessorize her SS15 collection.
They found inspiration in candy colors, childhood and toys. They use chunky acetates in fun colors, bold graphic shapes and playful takes on iconic frame shapes – cats, circles and brows.
This collaboration is the bee’s knees and they will instantly put a smile on your face!

Our uber-chic Customer Of The Week is Ruth!
Ruth has been a customer here at Eye Spy for a few years now and she always has wonderful taste. We love how these slightly oversized Anne et Valentin Modern Style frames look on her.
Everything comes together in this frame – the shape is a reimagined take on vintage eyeglass shapes, the little pops of red metal on the temples make this frame modern and the tortoise is a classic color that is crazy versatile.
Ruth’s Gentle Monster Magician frame is also an updated take on a traditional sunny and is a frame she will be able to wear for years.

We are putting the final touches on our plans for the Anne et Valentin trunk show! Here’s what’s going on:
Obviously, we will have all of the Anne et Valentin collection here!! Every single, perfectly-crafted frame in all of their glorious colors. Oh, and did we mention just how dreamy their sunglasses are for this season?! Le Sigh…
We have got some other delectable things lined up for you! We will have an assortment of delicious savory hand pies from Pleasant House Bakery ! If you haven’t had one of these delicious pies from this Beverly bakery, then get your cute face in here and chow down on Thursday, May 7th! When you are finished with the savories, move on to our sweets from Flirty Cupcakes, which will surely give you the energy to pick out the dreamiest glasses in town…
We will have crafted our own cocktails for the event as well, so after being fed and watered, you can pick out your favorite pairs from the lovely Anne et Valentin collection. Karla is always dressed for fun and when she saw the Francis Klein Royal sunnies, she had to catch her breath. And can you blame her? They must have been designed with Karla in mind! Karla will look great at all of her three (yes I said three!) jobs – a shoe store, a jewelry store and for us!
