We already have customers asking us about our Saturday Trunk Shows in November…so we figured it is time to put up a post and make it official! We will have the newest of the new, hot off the press, straight from the Paris trade show…100′s of new frames that are not in any stores!
So, let me set you straight…this is NOT a sale. These are exclusive trunk shows where the sales rep from each line brings his or her samples for all to try-on. Every sample that the rep has, will be in the store for the weekend only. The shows are open to the public on Saturdays from 11-5 PM...and BY APPOINTMENT only on Sundays.
This is your one and only chance to see every color and every shape available in the current collections. We carry a majority of each collection, but we do not have room to stock the entire collection of each line. If you have been looking for the perfect pair or have something specific in mind, this is the time to come in to Eye Spy. You will be like a kid in a candy shop!!
Oh, and did we mention that these trunk shows will be showcasing the 2013 collections that are not in any stores yet? The only drawback is: you might have to wait a few weeks or a few months to receive your frames….but it will be worth it!! See you soon:-)

It’s hard to believe that it has been 14 years since Eye Spy Optical opened its doors on a cold and rainy Saturday morning on Lincoln Avenue! I still remember lying down on the couch to take a nap, as a result of staying up through the wee hours on Friday night to get everything ready for opening day. We have a new couch…but it still beacons me to take a nap;-)
We still love fitting our customers with unique, handmade eyewear in a living-room atmosphere…and giving the same honest and expert advice. We have a new logo, new website, and great employees. But not much else has changed. We continue to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can. And we love seeing our customers (and their families) return to us year after year. Who wouldn’t?

We’re having a big ole barbecue and cold refreshments (read:beer) to celebrate having all of Theo’s brand-new frames and sunglasses at Eye Spy, straight from the Milan trade show!! Girls Rock! Chicago is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering girls’ creative expression, positive self-esteem and community awareness through rock music. Pretty cool! Through music education programs for girls ages 8-16, they are committed to educating girls about the musical, technical and creative aspects involved in musicianship. They believe that young girls are rarely encouraged to explore self-expressive creative outlets and are less likely to be given access to musical and technical instruction or equipment…and rock music can be a crucial tool in allowing young women to respond to preconceived notions of what they can become!

YES, we already have a wooden frame line at Eye Spy….but this one is a little different, of course!
Meet Anni Shades! A new, small line of wooden frames made in the Midwest. Ohio, to be exact.
This small company makes every frame to order, so we were able to pick out custom color inlays that peek out in between the layers of beautiful wood. In addition, they plant a tree for every pair purchased:-)
We should have our order within the next week or two, so check back for pictures of our newest collection!

We were sooo excited when we saw all the new Anne et Valentin frames at the trade show in March! We ordered just a *wee* bit more than our budget! We are still waiting for a bunch of our order…since handmade frames take a long time to make:-(
While we are waiting, though, our sales rep from Anne et Valentin is going to bring the entire collection to Eye Spy for all to see!! Yahooo!

Yes, I *know* you are excited for Memorial Day this weeekend…but while you are enjoying a cold one and standing over the barbeque, it’s time to start thinking about your daddio. Father’s Day is next month!
These next three weeks will fly by…and before you know it, BAM. It’s Father’s Day. If you did not take our advice and get your daddio a pair of sunglasses last year, or even if you did take our advice, your dad needs a new pair of shades! Take it from us.
I also know that you do *not* want your pops getting cataracts, or wrinkles, or any other bad stuff…and he needs something to update his look. No offense. So, swing by Eye Spy and we can help you pick out that perfect pair…or at least make up a gift certificate for him:-)

Eye Spy Optical will be hosting a rescue group from noon to 3 PM along with eight other neighborhood merchants within a block of the Paulina/Lincoln intersection. Each merchant will have a guide as to where all the rescue groups are located. There will be a total of nine rescue groups with adoptable cats and dogs.

Obviously we are a *little* biased…but we really ARE the best eyeglasses shop in Chicago!! Don’t you agree? Well, I guess we have been voted “Best Of” four times…but one more time doesn’t hurt;-)

The Queen of Specs has a quite collection of fabulous hats…to go with her spectacular specs.
She purchased this beauty in Louisville for the 2004 Derby from a Louisville art and jewelry gallery, Objects of Desire. The shop used to be on Bardstown Rd., which has a ton of independent boutiques with local goods. Check it out!
