As usual, we almost fainted when we saw the new Theo collection at the Milan eyewear tradeshow. And then we almost fainted *again* when our Theo sales rep, Julie, told us she would lend us her sample cases this weekend!!
So, get ready Chicago…and get yourself into Eye Spy this Saturday and Sunday the 23th &24th of March before Julie picks up the cases and starts traveling around the country to select stores to show off the beauties!
Trust us. You won’t be sorry. We are open Saturday from 10-6 PM and Sunday from 12-5 PM. And if you don’t believe us, take a peek at these photos…..
Man oh man, are we ever excited for our March event! Let’s be real, we all could use a little pick me up in March.
On March 9th from 12-4pm, Eye Spy will be hosting our annual March Makeover Party. This year we decided to step up our game a little bit. Along with our usual lovely makeup artist Brenda, joining us this year will be Sky Cubacub, who specializes in a little more un-conventional makeup. She also is a master crafter of chainmaille jewelry. Who knew? Let me tell you, it is amazing! Sky will be modeling some of her pieces if you are interested.
We have also invited Hunter Gatherer Jewelry to join us! (She might let you sneak a peek at her new collection!) Hunter Gatherer Jewelry’s collection draws inspiration from the intangible experiences that add texture and meaning to our lives. We are head over heels for her work and know you will be too!
We will see you for some new makeup ideas, fresh new jewelry and snacks. Come on, you know you love some snacks….with some adult bevvies to wash them down;-)
This week has been quite busy around Eye Spy! The highlight of our week so far has been this past Monday….believe it or not!? Who likes Mondays, especially when the high is around 5 degrees? Ack. Normally that would be our reaction too. However, this Monday Mary Ellen Croteau and her hubby installed these bottle-cap beauties…making us fall in love with Monday, for one week only:-)
We won’t even try to lie, we all know the ladies of Eye Spy love us some color. Mary Ellen definitely brought it! Who knew that we needed more color in here? Mary Ellen created these pieces in stacks and then did some calculating to figure out the aesthetics of the columns. Her studio is full of caps, lids and tops…all sorted by color. People donate them to her or she even dumpster dives for some of them at her local recycling center. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle right?! We are looking forward to staring at these beauties for a long time! Oooh, aaah.
The columns look ever better in-person…and Mary Ellen just hung a grouping of 8 columns at the Carl Hammer Gallery!! You go girl! Check out Ms. Croteau’s website to see all of her fabulous artwork…including our favorite piece made from bottle caps: My Eye. We have a print of it in our back office…so let us know if you want to take a peek at it:-)
We are so pumped to welcome RVS by V into our little Eye Spy family of awesome eyewear. RVS is a line unlike any other, and the very first eyewear company to be based out of Istanbul, Turkey. The line started in 2006 and is going strong with a beautiful selection of matte colors. Each frame is hand made and fits right in to their vision for “quality eyewear built to last a lifetime.”
Vidal Erkohen, founder of RVS, started in eyewear by supplying eyewear boutiques, runway shows and some celebrities with vintage eyewear. Erkohen then founded RVS with the goal of bringing back the originality and quality of vintage eyewear.
We are over the moon with his collection and the wide range of matte colors the frames come in! Here is just a few samples of what our new line looks like.
Did you know Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error? There are at least 670 million people around the world that are blind or vision impaired simply because they do not have access to the eye exam and glasses that they need.
Optometry Giving Sight funds the solution by supporting programs that deliver:
Vision Care – eye exams, low-cost eye glasses and low-vision devices
Training – of optometrists, eye care personnel and their teachers
Infrastructure development – establishment and support of vision centers, eye clinics and schools of optometry
