Ooooh…we are so excited, our new Rapp frames are here!
24 years ago, Mel Rapp opened up a tiny dispensary at the back of his mother’s hat shop. A crazy idea at the time, it has grown into one of the most unique and avant-garde optical shops in the world.
Rapp, a company out of Toronto, combines old-fashioned work ethics with modern technology. Most of the frames are a combination of titanium and Italian acetate. Only 30 sets consisting of 32 pieces are sold of each collection worldwide, so when you buy a Rapp frame…you can truly be an individual.
Aren’t they breathtaking?!
Stay tuned for a posting about the Mykita trunk show on Saturday, November 12th. Mykita frames are known for their flexible, lightweight design and patented screwless hinge concept.

We just can’t get enough of Dr. Newton’s sweet shirts! How can one person have so many cool clothes? This button-down trucker shirt is a barrel o’fun…ha:)
If there was a spokesman for Rapp, Brad would be it. He seems to be able to rock any Rapp frame including this model “Tom”. We love the modern take on a vintage shape.
The glasses outline the shape of his eyes, they follow his brow line and accent his retro shirt. The honey color is great with his complexion and fair hair.
Hmmm, I wonder what he’ll wear next?! Find out in person by getting an exam next Wednesday…

Michael is sooooo excited about his new one-of-a-kind Rapp frames. It was love at first sight mixed with fate, since the model’s name is Michael as well! Rapp, a company out of Toronto, makes unique frames in a world of mass-production. Twice a year, Rapp runs about 20-30 kits, and once sold…the designs are never repeated or re-manufactured. Rapp is known for their modern, yet functional glasses.

Cathy!!!
Cathy looks darling in her two new pair of glasses. The Rapp frames she already picked up look so hip with the dark to light gradation and matte finish.
Cathy can’t wait to pick up her Anne et Valentine frames. The glasses follow her brows emphasizing her pretty eyes and the orange hue really helps the frame pop! What fun it is to find two equally fabulous frames to switch between depending on your mood, outfit, or occasion.

Karen totally rocks these vintage assymetrical glasses. They capture her fun personality and accentuate her edgy hairstyle. The bold red hue pops…just like her smile!
She is waiting anxiously to get a second pair of glasses by Rapp optical. The combination of matte front with extremely crisp, defined edges are unlike the shiny rounded corners found on most acetate frames. The contrast between the flat front and pronounced forward curve of the bridge really is really flattering on Karen…

Chicago Music Exchange, and guess who we saw? Rob, the drum manager, wearing the
Francis Klein frames he purchased at Eye Spy! So, Brad picked up a djembe and Rob grabbed a tar hand drum and they started banging away…dum, ditty, dum, ditty, dum, dum, dum.

Dr. Karen Squier is filling in for for Dr. Brad Newton this week, yee haw! Since he knew that he wasn’t going to be here, he graciously left this awesome fringed shirt for Karen to wear for the
Shirt of the Week….and apparently, Dr. Brad wore this shirt on-stage when he performed with Dolly Parton at Allstate Arena (formerly known as Rosemont Horizon)!!This shirt is super unique, so we combined it with these one-of-a-kind Rapp frames. She is so excited to be sporting these gorgeous purple striated cat-eye glasses.

This week the Queen of Specs herself has a frame to fawn over. She has chosen the
Rapp Edna as her pick of the week!
She likes that it is a crazy one-of-a-kind frame with a soft pink color that has a nifty fade.
The Edna is part of
Rapp’s Drag Queen Series. While they typically only make 30 sets of their collection to send to 30 lucky stores (Eye Spy included!), for the Drag Queen series, they only made one set. Which means that this frame really is an individual.
The Queen of Specs likes that this frame is hand cut and finished in North America.
She also likes that the Edna is chunky on the front and has lightweight titanium temples.
We are giddy with anticipation for our trunk shows every Saturday in November, which will feature all of the new frames from our favorite lines! Hundreds of new frames, in every style and color imaginable…we’re getting dizzy just thinking about it! Come in next weekend for the LAFONT Trunk Show on Saturday, November 20 from 11-5!
