Put your hands together, my friends, and help me welcome the one…the only…HOT DOUG!!!!
Hot Doug is so suave (you thought I was going to say hot!) in his new Anne Et Valentine Fame frame.
Hot Doug is well known ’round these parts for serving up delicious salty encased meats (hot dogs!) for the past 13 years at the Chi-town institution, Hot Doug’s.
You can’t get the dogs anymore, but you CAN still get a T-Shirt!!!
He closed up shop in October, but you can still outfit your friends and family for your Hot Doug’s fan club at his website.
Don’t worry, he isn’t going to retire and disappear (though he may decide to take a long nap) and will be pursuing other exciting opportunities soon – maybe a charity, something that gives back to Chicago…we think he should persue an acting career!

Doug’s career in encased-meats might be over, but Fame will help him get through his days!
Known as a friendly guy, Doug made friends with people all over the country (a few weeks ago he ran into a guy who recognized him when he was on an RV trip down south!) He even gave our Queen of Specs a free veggie dog one day when she took her princesses out for a bite and forgot her wallet. Awwe!
So, my friends, if you see Hot Doug around, say hi and make sure you compliment him on his new specs. And, as Doug said when he left Eye Spy the other day, Happy Cholidays!

It’s customer of the week time again! This time we went with a dynamic duo… Cassie and her roommate Adrienne! Yes, Adrienne does work here, but we could not resist.
First up is Cassie in her speckled Gentle Monster Fafala frames! 
Turns out Adrienne picked this beauties out for Cassie.
Adrienne has been dreaming of a cat-eye since she started at Eye Spy… she finally found the perfect one: Francis Klein Wing in a brand-new color! It’s a navy acetate with a mosaic-detail peeking out from behind.
Roomie love in fabulous glasses.
Clearly Adrienne is beyond excited about her glasses choice, as is Cassie!

Our customer of the week this week is Rachel! Rachel and Rob sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage…
Finding the perfect pair of glasses can be a challenge. We *all* know this. Finding the pair you love AND will wear on your wedding day can be an added challenge.
When Rachel came through the door that’s exactly the challenge she presented to us: a dazzling pair of purple glasses that she would wear to her wedding…and continue to wear afterwards. ( Just a little pressure, it’s no big deal…) After trying on a few frames we found it, her dream frame. This beautiful, two-toned purple Anne et Valentin Dubai frame.
Rachel and her betrothed were married on October 12th at Bryn Mawr Country Club, and she was glowing!

Angela! Oh Angela, how we love you…and your sister’s great taste in glasses!
Angela fell in love with these Theo Soixante-Deux frames….and had to have this beautiful tortoise and purple color, so we special ordered it for her:-) Theo frames are available in at least 8 different colors…and some frames are available in 20 different colors!! OMG.
Usually, we do not have all 8 colors in-store….
BUT, this Saturday the 16th, we are having a trunk show with every shape AND every color in the Theo collection!! Don’t faint…just come in and try-on everything!
Angela’s sister, Ann, was our customer of the week this summer in her Francis Klein frames:-)
AND Ann purchased these Anne et Valentin frames in 2009…

Are you so excited? It’s that time of the year again when we jam-pack all the Saturdays in November with trunk shows! We’ve got new things up our sleeves this year! Come and check out the new collections from 5 different lines!
Anne et Valentin is a small company based out of Toulouse, France. They made their mark back in 1994 when they began design and production of bi-colored acetate frames for their optical shop in Toulouse.
Second, we’ve got Caroline Abram on November 9th!
Caroline Abram, based out of France, has a lovely new take on vintage shapes with just the right amount of color….and at a nice price-point:-)
Third up is everyone’s favorite: Theo on November 16th!
In 1989, Theo introduced its ground-breaking collection in Belgium to offer their clients glasses that were definitely not mainstream. Now, Theos appeal to a wider audience, but they still have a soft spot for the individualist.
Fourth on the list is Anni Shades on November 23rd…
AND a Meet the Maker party on Friday, November 22nd!!
Made just over yonder in Ohio, Anni Shades is a small group of guys who are committed to create from what nature has made. In case you haven’t guessed, it is a sustainably-forested wooden line.
Last but not least is Mykita on November 30th!
Since 2003, Mykita has been designing and handcrafting its stainless steel and plastic frames in-house in Berlin. The frames are avant-garde, perfectly crafted, individual and unmistakable due to their patented screwless hinge concept and clean designs.
We will see you for five Saturdays of brand new frames from the 2014 collections and lots of snacks.

This week’s Customer of the Week iiiiissss: Rachel!!
Rachel holds the honor of being one of the lucky people who rock these Rapp “Nathalie” frames. Rapp eyewear is one of our limited-edition lines of eyewear. Each pair is made-to-order for us…and they only have 30 accounts in the whole wide world! It takes them 6 months just to produce our order!! Of course, we get to choose any shape in any color, but their colors are not even standardized…’cause they only have small amounts of each color. So…what am I sayin’? If you see it and love it, you better get now…or you might be crying when someone else buys your dream frame:-(

In case you were not following our friend Chris Hershman and Amanda Farmer along on their journey, let us quickly update you on the whole deal:
Chris and Amanda are two long time friends with one thing in common; their many passions and talents didn’t fit neatly inside “the box.” These two took a 12 day long cross country road trip and took us along for the ride.
Joining us for the evening will be Old Honey Drums, Amanda’s band, and the creative minds behind Capture the Road. We will dance, drink and celebrate as these two introduce their short film and still-shots for the first public showing!

Check out our customers of the week Patrick and Jessica! This sweet couple came in for an updated look. What do you think? We are in love with Jessica’s big smile…and her Anne et Valentin Elevate frame. Patrick loves very handsome in his Theo Huitante+3 in brown and green. Go green frames!!
Jessica took a small hiatus from Eye Spy, got lenses somewhere else and had trouble adjusting to the lenses:-( She knows she is sensitive to small changes in her prescription…just like many artists, engineers, designers and other detail-oriented folks! When she put on her new Anne et Valentin frames from Eye Spy, we tweaked the adjustment and she said that they felt great…and that made *us* feel real good:-)
The fact is, there are hundreds of lens designs for opticians to choose from….and choosing the correct lens design is paramount to adapting quickly to your new glasses!! After looking at your prescription, frame choice and asking some lifestyle, adaptation, and usage questions, the certified opticians at Eye Spy decide on the very best lens design…just for you!!
Many opticians do not ask these questions, and do not have the access or training to use the newer technically-advanced that we like to use. It takes a bit more time, but it is worth the time and energy to select the perfect lens design for each customer…especially when we are talking about progressive lens design! We prefer to use lenses from Hoya and Shamir, but we have access to every single lens on the market.
Jessica and Patrick came in for the Mom’s the Word Trunk Show, got a free massage and picked out these sweet glasses! Congrats to our customers of the week!
